KOCHI: Mohammed Nisham A A, serving a life sentence in the Chandrabose murder case that shocked Kerala, has been granted 15 days of parole. The High Court granted parole to Nisham the previous day.

Justices V Raja Vijayaraghavan and P V Balakrishnan rejected the government's objection to granting parole. Nisham's wife had approached the High Court seeking 30-day parole. However, the single bench rejected this request. Parole was initially denied after a police report stated that the situation could worsen as there remained a property dispute between Nisham and his siblings.

The single bench's verdict accepted the government's argument that Nisham was transferred to Viyyur jail due to bad conduct with the prison authorities. The division bench pointed out that the government's argument was not a sufficient reason to deny parole. The court asked police to ensure no untoward incident takes place rather than meekly surrendering with statements expressing fear of possible danger in a convict is allowed parole.

The court also clarified that no action has been taken against Nisham for being transferred to the Viyyur jail. Nisham is serving a life sentence for the 2015 case of brutally beating and killing Chandrabose, a security guard, at his residence in Thrissur.
