woman-set-on-fire

KASARGOD: A 27-year-old woman suffered critical burn injuries after a man allegedly doused her with thinner and set her on fire inside her shop. Ramitha (27), who runs a grocery store, suffered over 50 percent burns and is undergoing treatment at Kanhangad District Hospital. She was attacked by Tamil Nadu Chinnapattinam native Ramamrutham (57), who runs a furniture shop near Ramitha's shop. He has been taken into custody.

According to sources, Ramitha had complained to the building owner about Ramamrutham frequently coming to the shop drunk and causing trouble. Following the complaint, the building owner had asked Ramamrutham to vacate the shop. The attack is believed to have been in retaliation for this.
