KASARGOD: D Shilpa, the IPS officer who played a key role in sending notorious murder accused Jolly (from the Koodathayi serial killings) and Greeshma (who killed her lover by poisoning herbal medicine) to jail, has now been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). She will now serve in the investigation and law enforcement divisions of the CBI.
Shilpa, who was serving as the District Police Chief of Kasaragod, has moved to central deputation for a period of five years. The temporary charge of the Kasaragod district has been handed over to Anuj Paliwal, the Kannur Rural District Police Chief.
The Neyyattinkara Sharon Raj murder case and the Koodathayi serial killings in Kozhikode, in which women were the prime accused, were among the most shocking crimes that stunned Kerala. The investigative team led by D Shilpa successfully identified and brought the culprits to justice. In the Sharon Raj murder case, the Kerala Police were even commended by the court for their effective and timely investigation.
The Koodathayi serial murder investigation was particularly complex, with new revelations emerging at every stage. When the investigating team was expanded under the leadership of Kozhikode Rural SP K.G. Simon, D Shilpa, then the Additional SP of Kannur, also joined the team. Her efforts, along with the rest of the team, were instrumental in identifying and prosecuting the accused, Jolly.
