LUCKNOW: A woman eloped with her daughter’s fiancé just days before the wedding at Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. They fled with cash and jewelry kept for the marriage.
The people in the area said the youth and his future mother-in-law were in love and no one knew about it. They did not run away empty-handed. They fled with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and jewellery kept for her daughter.
Relatives said that this woman took the initiative to arrange the marriage of the youth with her daughter. He would come to the house occasionally under the pretext of wedding preparations and no one suspected anything.
The love between the two grew and no one was aware of it. The youth had gifted his mother-in-law a mobile phone. But no one took it seriously, other than the love between the mother and son.
The marriage of the youth and her daughter was fixed to April 16. Invitations were sent and the preparations were in full swing. The two left the house in the name of shopping. There was no information about them later. They could not be contacted on the phone.
When the girl's father became suspicious, he found that the gold and money were missing from the cupboard. A complaint has been filed with the police. The investigation is focusing on the phone number.
