THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a special alert as part of the Kallakadal phenomenon. As part of the phenomenon, there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves rising to 0.9 to 1.0 meters on the coasts from Kappil to Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram till 11.30 pm tomorrow. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has also informed that waves are likely to rise to 1.3 to 1.4 meters on the Kanyakumari coast.


The advice is that fishermen and coastal residents should be alert as there is a possibility of sea erosion.


1. As the sea is likely to become rough, they should move away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.


2. Fishing vessels (boats, yachts, etc.) should be safely tied up in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.


3. Avoid trips to the beach and entertainment in the sea completely.


Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has announced that light rain is likely in all districts today. However, no specific alerts have been issued in any district. It has also been warned that there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour in the state till tomorrow.
