KOZHIKODE: A drug smuggling operation spanning from Bangladesh to Kozhikode has been exposed. Kalsar Ali, a 29-year-old from West Bengal, was arrested by Kozhikode Circle Inspector T. Rajeev and his team while attempting to sell heroin, a deadly drug. Excise officials confirmed that he plays a central role in distributing heroin, which is brought into Kozhikode through migrant workers and sold in various parts of the district.
Medical store authorities became suspicious when numerous people began buying syringes and other related items from their shop. Acting on the confidential tip-off from the shop staff, police conducted an investigation and apprehended Kalsar Ali. He was found in possession of 30 grams of heroin. The drug, purchased for Rs. 1,000 per gram, was being sold in Kerala for double the price.
Kalsar Ali reportedly made monthly trips to bring heroin from Bangladesh. The investigating officers have uncovered crucial details about the individual supplying the drug to him from Bangladesh. Efforts are now underway to investigate this supplier. Kozhikode Assistant Excise Commissioner R.N. Baiju has stated that strict inspections will be conducted in the days ahead.
The arrest was carried out by a team led by Assistant Excise Inspector P. Unnikrishnan, Preventive Officer K. Praveenkumar, K. Jubeesh, and Civil Excise Officers K.K. Rasoonkumar, A.M. Akhil, and K. Deepak.
