THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DGP has recommended that a case can be registered against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar for his fake statement. The DGP has recommended a civil and criminal action. Ajith Kumar had given a statement that ADGP P Vijayan has a role in the gold smuggling. The DGP’s stand is in response to the complaint filed by P Vijayan seeking legal action and terming the allegation as baseless.

Ajith Kumar in his statement said S P Sujith Das had told him about P Vijayan’s role in the gold smuggling in Karipur. However, Sujith Das had denied this. P Vijayan had given a letter to the government demanding action. The government had sought opinion from the DGP.

P Vijayan in his complaint to the DGP termed the statement of Ajith Kumar has fake. His complaint sought action against him.

The government had appointed an investigation committee headed by DGP S Darvesh Sahib to investigate the allegations levelled by P V Anwar MLA against Ajith Kumar. Ajith Kumar gave his statement against P Vijayan before this committee.

P Vijayan was suspended pending investigation in 2023 based on Ajith Kumar's report that he leaked information about the accused in the Kozhikode train arson case. Vijayan returned to service after senior officials rejected Ajith Kumar's report during the investigation.
