KOTTAYAM: A person died in a bus accident in Kanamala near Pampa Valley, close to Erumeli. The bus, which was carrying Sabarimala pilgrims, overturned at a sharp curve in the Kanamala descent known as Attimala bend. Three people were seriously injured in the accident and have been admitted to the hospital. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Karnataka, with a total of 35 people on board.

The group was on their way to Sabarimala when the bus lost control while taking the curve. Though the vehicle overturned, a nearby tree prevented it from falling further, thereby avoiding a major tragedy. Locals say the Attimala bend is an accident-prone area.
