KOZHIKODE: The house of the person taken into police custody in Vellayil was found gutted by fire. The house of Faijaz, a native of Vellayil, was gutted by fire. He was taken into custody yesterday in connection with an assault case. The local councillor alleged that Faijaz, a heavy drinker, also uses drugs. There was a clash between Faijaz and the locals last Sunday. He was taken into police custody yesterday for this case. Following this, Faijaz's house was found partially burnt this morning.

The councillor says that when he gets drunk, he often knocks on the doors of nearby houses and makes a ruckus. Another allegation is that Faijaz will question anyone who comes to the town from outside. A student has been stabbed and injured in this way. The councillor also alleged that he had stabbed and injured a local on Bhatt Road and added that Faijaz lived alone in the house and used to drink with friends there.
