AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets, riding on the batting fireworks from England star Jos Buttler. Batting first, Delhi scored 203 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. With just four bowls to spare, Gujarat surpassed the target in emphatic style. Jos Buttler’s innings included 11 fours and 4 sixes.
With this win, Gujarat secured the top spot in the point table, pushing Delhi to the second spot. Earlier, Gujarat and Delhi had 10 points from seven matches played, and now, the winning team has gone further to sit at the top. Chasing a target of over 200, Gujarat lost captain Shubman Gill (7) early in the innings.
Later, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler formed an indestructible partnership of 60 runs to change the tide of the game. Sai soon returned to the pavilion, paving the way for impact player Sherfane Rutherford, who scored 43 off 34 balls. The duo put on a 119-run stand for the third wicket. Mukesh Kumar dismissed Rutherford, but Rahul Tewatia (11 off 3 balls) helped Gujarat to a brilliant finish.
Gujarat needed 10 runs to win in the last over bowled by Mitchell Starc. Tewatia hit a six off the first ball and a four off the second ball.
