KOTHAMANGALAM: Several people were injured after a temporary gallery collapsed during the final of a football tournament in Pallarimangalam. As per reports, 22 people suffered injuries in the incident. Some of the injuries are said to be serious.

The incident took place around 10 pm last night. The gallery, built with iron girders and planks, collapsed at the Malik Dinar Public School grounds. Hundreds of spectators fell to the ground along with the gallery. Many were trapped under the debris.

The rescue operation was initially carried out by those present at the scene. Later, the police and the fire force arrived. The injured were taken to Kothamangalam Mar Baselios, Dharmagiri and Taluk hospitals in ambulances and other vehicles. The seriously injured were shifted to Aluva Rajagiri Hospital. The tournament was organised by the Adivad Hero Youngs Club. It is reported that there were about 4,000 spectators at the ground during the finals.
