Many of us rely on train travel as an essential part of our lives. During journeys, passengers often eat and sleep on the train. It is rare to find someone who does not at least enjoy a cup of tea and a vada while traveling. However, very few people have a good opinion about the food served on trains.
Despite knowing the food quality is poor, passengers buy it because they have no other option. However, if you learn what really happens behind the scenes, you might lose your appetite altogether. Actor Kiran Iyer recently shared a disturbing video from his Kerala Express journey on Instagram.
He described how, when he went to the door area, he saw a man sitting by a closed door near the train toilet. The man had some vadas in a blue plastic container on the floor, along with a bowl of chutney and a spoon. He was stirring the vadas with his hand while talking on the phone. The man was wearing the blue uniform of the railway catering staff.
Kiran tagged Kerala Express, Indian Railways, and train food in his post, writing: "Today's scene on Kerala Express. Aren't these the snack we eat? The ’clean’ snacks he put on the door side after stirring with his hand." This video raises serious concerns about the hygiene and safety of food served on trains.
