KOTTAYAM: Amit, a migrant from Assam, is suspected to be behind the double murder in Thiruvathukkal that shook Kerala. He has been taken into custody and is being questioned by the police. Vijayakumar had terminated him from his job months ago due to his bad behaviour. The locals said Vijayakumar sacked him for stealing a phone.
CCTV cameras have been installed in the house. The accused fled after stealing the DVR (digital video recorder) that records the visuals. As he had worked in the house, he was aware of the CCTV being installed there. Kottayam SP Shahul Hameed said personal enmity for terminating him could be the reason for the murder.
The faces of Vijayakumar and Meera were disfigured. The police said the bodies were lying in a pool of blood. The bodies were found in two rooms. There were no clothes on the bodies. Vijayakumar was hit on his head. Weapons including an axe were recovered from the house. The police have concluded that this was not a murder committed for theft. The killer entered the house after breaking the back door with a grinding stone.
