THRISSUR: Minister A.K. Saseendran stated that the government aspires to conduct the Thrissur Pooram without any shortcomings. He was speaking at a meeting held at the Executive Hall of the Thrissur Collectorate in connection with the organisation of the Thrissur Pooram festival.

He said that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure that the public can witness the Pooram without any inconvenience. In light of the unfortunate incidents related to the elephant processions in recent times, he emphasised the need to create an atmosphere where people can enjoy the festival without fear or anxiety. The minister said that suggestions acceptable to all parties would be consolidated, and orders would be issued if necessary.

He further stated that any orders related to the Pooram should only be issued with the knowledge and consent of the District Collector. Cooperation is essential from both the Pooram committee and the elephant owners to ensure security for the event. The Chief Wildlife Warden should oversee daily operations, and the Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Ernakulam must submit daily reports to the Chief Wildlife Warden regarding the event’s management.
