CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has faced yet another defeat in their own backyard of Chennai, disappointing the sea of yellow-clad fans that packed the stadium. Chasing a target of 155 runs set by Chennai, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched victory with eight balls to spare. At one stage, the Sunrisers' batting line-up looked like it might collapse, but a steady partnership between Kamindu Mendis (32* not out) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19* not out) rescued the team. The duo added 49 runs in just 29 balls for the sixth wicket, steering the team to a comfortable win.

Chasing 155, Ishan Kishan top-scored for the Sunrisers with a fluent 44 off 34 balls. Explosive opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck, while Travis Head (19) and Heinrich Klaasen (7) also fell cheaply. Aniket Verma, who seemed to be settling in with Kishan, was dismissed for 19.

Earlier, Sunrisers won the toss and opted to bowl first— a decision that paid off well at Chepauk. 20-year-old Shaik Rasheed was dismissed on the very first ball by Shami. Dewald Brevis (42) and Ayush Mhatre (30) were the only batters to shine for CSK. Ravindra Jadeja (22) and Deepak Hooda (21) made decent contributions, while captain MS Dhoni managed only six runs. For the Sunrisers, Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for just 28 runs.
