THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There has been a change in the rain alert status for Kerala. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded Ernakulam district's green alert to a yellow alert. With this, five districts are under a yellow alert today: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kannur, and Ernakulam. The alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall refers to a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is recorded within 24 hours.

Today, isolated places in Kerala are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h. On April 29, thunderstorms with rain and winds at speeds between 30 and 40 km/h are expected at isolated locations. From April 30 to May 2, there is also a possibility of thunderstorms with rain at isolated places, according to the India Meteorological Department.
