NEW DELHI: Four were killed after a tree uprooted in the heavy rains in New Delhi. The incident happened in Delhi’s Dwarka, Delhi. A woman and her three children were killed after the tree fell in top of their one-room house.
Heavy rains are lashing Delhi after strong winds and dust storms. There was waterlogging in areas like Dwarka, Khanpur, South Extension Ring Road, Minto Road, Lajpat Nagar, Moti Bagh. Visuals of this have been released.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of wind and rain with a speed of 70 to 80 kmph. Trees fell in strong winds. Authorities have advised people not to go out unnecessarily and to remain indoors. Three flights have been diverted due to bad weather. The flights were diverted to Ahmedabad and Jaipur. More than twenty flights were delayed.
Airlines have informed that people should check the latest update related to flights before going to the airport. ‘Some of our flights to and from Delhi are being delayed or diverted. This may impact the overall flight schedule. We are doing our best to minimize disruptions,’ Air India said in a statement.
