NEW DELHI: India had taken several crucial decisions after Pakistan's role in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir became clear. With this, Pakistan had also decided not to open its airspace to flights from India. India has also taken the same stand against Pakistan. Now, a leading news agency has reported that if Pakistan does not open its airspace for a year, Indian airline Air India will have to pay an additional cost of $ 600 million (5,081 crore).
It is reported that the company will have to bear the additional cost by next year, which will include the fuel cost of the aircraft. The news agency released the information in this regard yesterday. The airline warned that the change in the current routes of the flights will increase the travel time and it will affect the passengers.
It is reported that Air India will lose more than $ 591 million every year due to the ban. This ban is expected to continue till May 23. However, this ban will not affect international airlines. The news agency also reported that Air India has requested the central government for proportionate subsidies in connection with the loss.
Meantime, this will not only affect Air India but also the airline IndiGo and its services. The flight from Delhi to Baku, Azerbaijan, completed the journey in five hours and 43 minutes. It is reported that it took 38 minutes more than the normal service.
