v-sivankutty

Kerala’s General Education Minister V. Sivankutty held talks with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today. During the meeting, he shared Kerala's concerns and demands regarding the public education sector. He highlighted that there has been a prolonged crisis in receiving the Union’s share of centrally sponsored schemes. The minister stated that a formal petition regarding this issue was submitted to the Union Minister.

The petition clearly pointed out the outstanding Union share of funds owed to Kerala under central schemes. Minister Sivankutty also conveyed to the Union Minister that any delay in releasing these funds would severely impact the state’s education sector.

NCERT General Council

Kerala strongly expressed its position at today's NCERT General Council meeting against what it described as the central government's efforts to saffronize and communalise the education sector under the guise of the National Education Policy. The Minister stated that Kerala opposed attempts to weaken the broad constitutional ideal of secularism and the concept of unity in diversity, which is a core strength of the country.
