MALAPPURAM: A two-year-old boy died while his mother escaped with minor injuries after the latter jumped into the well along with her son in an alleged suicide attempt. The incident took place in Thachanattukara, Palakkad. Kanchana, a native of Thachanattukara, jumped into the well at her home with her son Vedic (Kashi) last night.

It is reported that the woman attempted suicide with her son due to family problems. Those who witnessed the incident immediately carried out a rescue operation and rushed them to the hospital.

Kashi succumbed to his injuries this morning while undergoing treatment. Kanchana is still in hospital. The police have taken further action.
