THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Judge AM Basheer, who has sentenced four convicts to death, including the main accused Greeshma in the Parasala Sharon murder case, has been transferred. The transfer is to the Alappuzha Motor Accident Claims Tribunal Court. It is a normal transfer.
Neyyattinkara District Additional Sessions Court Judge AM Basheer sentenced four convicts in eight months. It is noteworthy that the same court and the same judge sentenced two women to death in the state of Kerala. Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court Judge AM Basheer, who sentenced Greeshma to death in the Parasala Sharon murder case, was also the judge who sentenced Rafeeka Beevi to death in the case of killing a housewife named Shanthakumari in Vizhinjam and stealing gold ornaments on May 2, 2023. Rafeeka Beevi's sons Al Amin and Shafiq were also sentenced to death.
Although a judge, AM Basheer is also a writer. He has written works in the genres of novels, collections of stories and travelogues. His novel ‘Themis’ is famous. The case study ‘J Case’ was also noted.
AM Basheer is a native of Wadakkanchery, Thrissur. He entered service as a Judicial First Class Magistrate in 2002. He has worked in Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Changanassery, Alappuzha and Kollam. He worked as a District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. AM Basheer was appointed as Neyyattinkara District Sessions Judge while he was the Assembly Secretary. He is married to S. Suma, a Kerala Lokayukta officer. Their daughter is Azmin Nayara, a lawyer, and son is Asim Basheer, a student.
