The harrowing image of a stoic Himanshi Narwal sitting beside her husband, Captain Vinay Narwal’s lifeless body in Pahalgam on April 22nd, became the symbol of the gruesome Pahalgam terrorist attack that took away the lives of 26 civilians.

As per reports, Pak terrorists singled out Vinay Narwal from the lot and asked him to recite a religious hymn to identify his faith. He was even made to pull down his trousers for verification purposes. After the check, Narwal was shot dead at point-blank range in front of his wife, Himanshi.

At the time of the incident, the couple were just into their sixth day of marriage.

Since then, many joined in grief for Himashi’s loss, while she received massive support across the globe. However, things started to go awry over the past few days after Himanshi gave her first response on the matter to a media portal.

“We don’t want people going after Muslims and Kashmiris. We want peace and justice. The culprits should be brought before the law.” This was Himanshi’s response during her husband’s final rites ceremony.

This statement created an upheaval on the social media platform X, with many of Himanshi’s earlier supporters deciding to turn against her.

Many dug up her educational status, including Himanshi’s days at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The details of her friend’s circle that included Muslims were used as a ploy to attack her further. Netizens also brought back Himanshi's old social media posts.

Many of her current attackers in cyberspace allege the ill time Himanshi chose to do her virtue signalling. Many called her statement a result of ‘wokeism’.

“Husband died for being a Hindu, while 'Sherni' wife decides to shield the same extremist idea that took away her husband,”

“It was good for Vinay to get killed rather than spending life with her”, said another account on X.

More people have now come out to denounce the repulsive, hate-filled trolls and jibes against Himanshi.
