NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has published the assets of judges. The assets of 21 judges have been published on the court’s website. The Supreme Court said in a statement that the move is part of increasing transparency as per the full court decision of April 1.
Justice K V Viswanathan has the highest assets with investments of Rs 120.95 crore. He has paid taxes of Rs 91 crore in the last ten years. Supreme Court Chief Justice Sanjay Khanna has investments of Rs 3.38 crore. Justice Vinod Chandran has investments of Rs 7.94 lakh in mutual funds. He has Rs 6 lakh in his bank account. The assets of 12 judges have not been published. The Supreme Court said that it will be uploaded soon.
The names of the judges whose appointment recommendations were accepted by the Supreme Court Collegium from November 9, 2022 to May 5, 2025, the high court, the place of appointment, whether they are related to any sitting or retired Supreme Court or High Court judges, the responsibilities of the High Court Collegium in the appointment, the responsibilities and directions of the state and central governments and the responsibilities and actions of the Supreme Court Collegium after considering these have also been published on the website. The Supreme Court stated in a statement that this is for the information and awareness of the public.
