KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has sought an explanation from the KSRTC regarding the abrupt disruption of the Nilakkal-Pampa bus service during the Sabarimala Utsava-Vishu Vilakku Mahotsavam, without prior notice. The action was prompted by a report submitted by the Sabarimala Special Commissioner. The matter was reviewed by a division bench comprising Justice Anil K Narendran and Justice M.B. Snehalatha.

The service was disrupted at 7 PM on April 16, allegedly citing a lack of diesel at Pampa. The Special Commissioner's report states that it must be ensured that there is adequate fuel available at the Devaswom Board's pumps in Pampa and Nilakkal. The report also highlighted the growing number of pilgrims arriving for the monthly pooja, emphasising the need for uninterrupted transport services. The court has also directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to clarify its stance on the observations made in the report.

14 sacks of torn currency notes

• The temple treasury contains 14 sacks filled with torn currency notes. A significant quantity of foreign currency, lamps, and bells have also been deposited. The lamps and bells should be auctioned.
• Several pilgrims who ate food from the coffee shop at Pampa reportedly suffered from food poisoning. Following this, inspections were conducted at nearby hotels, and fines were imposed.
• Construction of a new pond has commenced at Sannidhanam.
• Floors in rooms at the Sabari Guest House and Donor House are being damaged due to devotees breaking coconuts inside. The cost of repairs should be recovered from the occupants.
• Several rooms in the Donor House are in need of repairs.
• Two rooms each in the Sabari Guest House and Sivasakthi Guest House have reportedly been permanently held by Kumaran Silks. The report recommends appropriate action in this matter.
