NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Force Base and interacted with the soldiers, on Tuesday. The Air Force Base is located in Jalandhar, Punjab, a hundred kilometres from the border.

Pakistan had claimed that it had struck the air base in Jalandhar, Punjab, located 100 kilometres from the border, using JF-17 fighter jets and destroyed India’s lethal S-400 air defence system. They claimed that the Indian air base would not be functional for at least one year due to the ‘fatal blow’ inflicted by Pakistani missiles.

The Pakistani military used morphed satellite images to claim that it had destroyed the airbase.

The Prime Minister, who arrived in Adampur at 6 am on Tuesday, spent about an hour with the soldiers and delivered a 25-minute speech, meant to inspire and uplift the mood. The S-400 was seen in the visuals behind PM Modi, while he was delivering the speech. This is the first time the army has released footage of the S-400 at the air base.

MiG-29s can also be spotted in the video. The Prime Minister's brief visit came after he addressed the nation the previous night praising the indomitable courage shown by the Indian soldiers.

Adampur Station

The second largest base of the Indian Air Force is located 100 km from the Pakistan border. It is home to MiG-29 and MiG-21 aircraft (Squadron 47 and Squadron 223). It also has one of the largest underground hangars in Asia. Adampur also houses a unit of the S-400 air defence system purchased from Russia.
