KOCHI: Police have seized a country-made gun from the house of a 26-year-old youth. The firearm was seized from the house of Saju, a native of Manalil in Eroor. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Eroor SHO Pushpa Kumar conducted a raid at Saju's house on Friday evening and discovered the gun hidden inside a room. The weapon was found loaded. Following the discovery, the police defused the gun outside the house and took Saju into custody along with the gun.

During questioning, Saju reportedly told the police he used the gun for hunting wild boars and that he had fired it three times. He also revealed that he had purchased the gun for Rs 15,000 from an individual in a place called Chettukuzhi. Saju, a tipper lorry driver, lives in the house with his mother. Police have registered a case under the relevant sections for illegal possession of a firearm. Authorities said Saju will be presented in court and remanded after completing other legal formalities.
