Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju has been roped in to play a prominent role in Surya’s next movie. This makes her third film in a row in Kollywood after being confirmed in Pradeep Ranganathan’s ‘Dude’ and Vijay's 69th movie.

After playing Reenu in the blockbuster Premalu in 2024, Mamitha has not so far entertained projects from Mollywood. The movie was a big success and there were also talks about the sequel in plans. However, with ambiguity now looming over the project and reports of actor Naslen opting out, the project is likely to be shelved. Meanwhile, Mamitha Baiju, an active face in Mollywood during the last few years is now in pursuit for more greener pastures.

There are social media talks about the actress trying to walk in the footsteps of former actress Asin, who achieved heights in Kollywood after making her beginnings in the Malayalam industry. Some opine Mamitha to be the new Dulquer Salmaan in town. Dulquer in the recent past has left behind Mollywood to build stardom in the Telegu industry.

“Heroines have low shell life and when the reality hits them, they switch to roles that pay them well. It is a great move to make just before realizing that your career days are numbered” one comment on social media addressing this issue.

There are many including Nithya Menen and Sai Pallavi who waltzed across industries in the south and still command the stardom. Hope Mamitha Baiju emulates them. A return to Mollywood would not be a bad choice after all.
