BENGALURU: A nine-month-old baby has tested positive for COVID in Bengaluru. The health department confirmed that the baby is from Hoskote in the Bengaluru Rural district. Principal Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Harsha Gupta, stated that the infection was confirmed on May 22 through a rapid antigen test. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao reported that 16 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the state on May 21.

Meanwhile, COVID cases are increasing in Kerala as well, with 182 cases reported across the state so far in May. Health Minister Veena George urged the public to remain vigilant. Kottayam district reported 57 cases, Ernakulam 34 cases, and Thiruvananthapuram 30 cases. These three districts require special attention.


The health department advised that the elderly and pregnant women should stay indoors. People should be cautious in crowded or poorly ventilated areas, maintain hygiene, and wear masks. Those experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or digestive issues should undergo testing immediately and avoid going out if unwell.

Several Asian countries have recently seen an increase in COVID-19 cases. However, authorities have stated there is no need for panic. According to the latest national data released today, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 257.
