THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have recovered a Telegram chat that reportedly proves that the accused, Sukanth Suresh, abetted the suicide of the IB officer who worked at the airport. In the chat, Sukanth repeatedly asked the woman, "When will you die?", to which she responded, "August 9." The conversation took place on February 9, and no chats followed after that.
Details of this shocking chat were included in the Statement of Facts submitted by the police to the High Court last month in response to Sukanth's anticipatory bail plea. The chat was recovered from an iPhone obtained from a relative of Sukanth in Malappuram. Police suspect that August 9 held some significance known only to the two of them. Although earlier chats existed, they were from a time when the two were on friendly terms and contained mostly obscene content. Although Sukanth had deleted the chats, the app had not been uninstalled, allowing the police to recover the data.
The phone has been sent again for detailed forensic examination. The court will consider Sukanth's anticipatory bail application on Monday. The IB officer was found dead on March 24 after being hit by a train.
