MANANTHAVADY: In a gruesome incident, a woman was stabbed to death by her partner in Wayanad late Sunday night. The incident took place in Wayanad’s Vakeri region. The victim is Praveena (34), a native of Edayoorkunnu. One of her children suffered serious injuries to her ears in the incident.

Praveena has two daughters. The eldest daughter, Anagha (14), was injured in the attack. The child's neck and ear were reportedly cut. The second child, aged nine years old, is missing. Police believe that the child may have fled to a nearby place in fear of the attack. The locals and police are searching the premises.

The reason for the culprit Gireesh brutally murdering Praveena is still unknown. However, according to the initial information provided by the police, the woman was first married to Sudheesh. She later separated from him and started living with Gireesh. The relationship hit a roadblock recently and Praveena wanted to come out of it. This is rumoured to have irked the culprit to carry out such a brutal attack.

The police concluded that the accused might not have left the area due to heavy rains. The injured girl is currently undergoing treatment at the Taluk Hospital in Mananthavady. The murder took place in the house where Praveena was staying on rent.
