THRISSUR: Rains continue to wreak havoc in various districts of the state. So far, six people have died in the rains. There have been widespread damages due to uprooted trees and landslides. Bridges and residential areas have been submerged in heavy rain. The Malabar region has been receiving heavy rain since morning.


Traffic has been disrupted on the Thrissur-Guruvayur railway line due to a tree falling. The tree from the Amala Hospital premises in Thrissur fell onto the power line on the railway track. Efforts have been made to remove the tree. The incident took place this morning.


Meanwhile, a car coming after a vehicle that had braked after seeing the waterlogging overturned and a Kottayam native was injured. The incident took place on the flyover near Apollo Junction in Kalamasseri. When the vehicle braked to prevent it from falling into the waterlogging, James of Kottayam, who was coming in a car, veered off the car. With this, it lost control and hit the handrail of the bridge and overturned. The incident took place at 5.15 am. The car was heading towards Aluva.


A person was swept away by the currents in Vadakkekadavu in Ernakulam Muvattupuzha. Job (42) of Vallikada, went missing last night. There are heavy rains in Kannur and Wayanad in the morning. Water has entered the road in Muthanga Manmadhamula. The Kalloorpuzha river has overflowed here.
