LUCKNOW: A controversy has erupted after a video showing a BJP leader indulging in an "inappropriate act" with a woman at the party office surfaced online. The incident took place at the BJP district committee office in Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. The video shows BJP district president Amar Kishore Kashyap hugging a young woman inside the party office. Soon after the video surfaced, a party worker lodged a complaint demanding an explanation regarding the incident. Based on the complaint, the party has issued a notice to Amar.

The complaint pointed out that the incident has brought shame to the party. The party has asked Amar to provide a detailed explanation within seven days. The notice, issued by BJP state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, stated that the video circulating on social media has adversely affected the party's reputation. Amar Kishore Kashyap has been asked to submit a written explanation to the BJP state office within seven days.

The leadership has also warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against Kashyap if he fails to provide a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated time. According to reports, the video was recorded on April 12.

Meanwhile, Kashyap claimed that the woman had called him saying she was feeling unwell and needed a place to rest.

"The woman is an active member of our party. She called me, saying she wasn't feeling well and needed a place to rest for a while. So, I brought her to the office. While climbing the stairs, she felt dizzy and I helped her. These visuals are being misused," he said.

CCTV footage shows the woman arriving at the party office in a car. The video shows her climbing the stairs, with Amar Kishore Kashyap following her, placing his hand on her shoulder and hugging her. Kashyap added, "If we don’t help a party worker, then who else should we help? If that’s considered a crime, then I have nothing more to say."
