THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty said nine teachers arraigned in POCSO cases, have been terminated from service in the state. The minister said this while inaugurating the state meet of the police association. He also clarified that quality education is being implemented in the state with the aim of improving the standards of children.


'People see the face of the government through police. My political activities were in accord and fight with the police. The police system is the hallmark of a government. Barring a few incidents, the work of the police is good. Quality education is being implemented in the state with the aim of improving the standards of children. Nine teachers accused in the POCSO case have been terminated. We will not allow our children to be abused. The education department is with the children. The police should be with them. The public also joined hands with the government to take New Kerala to new heights. Kerala's growth has reached the world. Kerala has changed into a global tourist destination,' said Sivankutty.


Sivankutty had earlier informed that disciplinary action will be taken strictly in POCSO cases against teaching and non-teaching employees under the public education department in the state. The number of POCSO cases presently reported against employees working under the department is 77. Of these, 65 are teachers and 12 are non-teaching employees.
