THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the ongoing heavy rains in Kerala, the district collectors have declared a holiday for educational institutions in Kannur, Wayanad and Kottayam districts tomorrow. The collector announced that since a red alert has been declared in Kannur district and the heavy rains are continuing, anganwadis, madrasas, tuition centres and special classes in the district will be closed on Tuesday. The holiday will not apply to anganwadi employees.

In the wake of the red alert being declared in Wayanad district on Tuesday, all educational institutions including tuition centres, madrasas, anganwadis and professional colleges will be closed. The holiday will not apply to residential schools and residential colleges.

Due to the ongoing heavy rains in Kottayam and the ongoing rain warning, professional colleges, educational institutions, Anganwadis, educational institutions conducting vacation classes, tuition centres, other vacation arts and sports training centres, institutions and religious schools in the district will be closed tomorrow. The holiday will not apply to previously scheduled exams.

Everyone should be cautious as the water level in rivers and water bodies has risen. Children should not go out in water bodies and open spaces. Strong winds are uprooting trees. Everyone is also warned to be extremely careful while travelling.
