THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The railway service was disrupted in Kerala after trees fell on the tracks at several places due to the incessant rains. Trees were uprooted on the Thiruvalla-Changanassery route, Thrissur-Guruvayur route, and Thiruvananthapuram-Edava route. Train services on these routes were delayed for several hours, causing inconvenience to passengers.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi and Thiruvananthapuram-Shornur Venad Express trains were delayed after a tree fell on the tracks near the Ernakulam Pullepady railway flyover at 9.30 am on Monday.

A tree fell on the electricity line on the track between Edakkad and South Railway Station in Kannur at 6.45 am on Monday. The incident occurred just after the Malabar Express bound for Kasaragod passed by this route.

It all started with a tree falling on the Punkunnam-Guruvayur line at around 6.30 am on Monday. It took hours to cut down the tree. This caused delays in the Guruvayur - Madurai Express, Guruvayur - Ernakulam South Passenger, Chennai Egmore - Guruvayur Express, and Ernakulam South - Guruvayur Passenger.

At 10.10 am, a teak tree fell in front of a train running near Thiruvalla railway station. A major tragedy was averted. The tree fell in front of the Velankanni-Ernakulam Express train. The train was stopped and the tree was cut down. The coconut tree fell on the track between Edava and Kappil in Thiruvananthapuram at around 11.30 am. It was cut down within half an hour.
