THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With incessant rains continuing all across Kerala, the Indian Meteorological Department issued flood warnings in rivers across the state. Red and orange alerts have been issued for various rivers in view of the possibility of flooding. People living near these rivers are advised to practice caution. In no circumstance should people go near the river or try to cross it.
Orange alert: Meenachil river in Kottayam district, Korapuzha in Kozhikode district, Achankovil and Manimala in Pathanamthitta district.
Yellow alert: Vamanapuram river in Thiruvananthapuram district, Perumba in Kannur district, Bharathapuzha in Malappuram district, Uppala in Kasaragod district, and Kabani in Wayanad district.
Following the dangerous rise in water levels, the State Irrigation Department issued an orange alert at Perur station on the Meenachil River in Kottayam district, Kunnamangalam station on the Korapuzha River in Kozhikode district, Kalleli station and Konni GD station on the Achankovil River in Pathanamthitta district, and Thondara (Vallamkulam) station on the Manimala River.
A yellow alert was issued at Kaithapram station on the Perumba River in the Kannur district, Uppala station on the Uppala River in the Kasaragod district, Kollikal station and Kadiyangad station on the Korapuzha River in Kozhikode district, Thiruvegappura station on the Bharathapuzha River in Malappuram district, Mylamoodu station on the Vamanapuram River in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kalathukadavu station, Muthanga station, Panamaram station on the Kabani River in Wayanad district, and the Central Water Commission's Muthankara station. Those living on the banks of these rivers should be vigilant.
