KALPETTA: In the wake of heavy rains, district collector D R Meghashree has declared a holiday for all educational institutions including tuition centers, madrasas, anganwadis and professional colleges in Wayanad tomorrow (Wednesday ,28/05/25).
The holiday is not applicable to residential schools, residential colleges, university exams and PSC examinations. The red alert, which is a warning of extremely heavy rains is still in effect in the district.
There are heavy rains all over the state. Widespread damages have been reported. Train services are delayed after trees fall on the railway tracks.
Red alert has been issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur today. Thrissur, Malappuram and Kasaragod are on orange alert. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Palakkad. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has said that there is a possibility of high waves of 3.5 to 4.0 meters and sea erosion along the Kerala coast till 8.30 pm on May 28.
