THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The electricity surcharge will be reduced in the bill for the month of June in Kerala. Those receiving monthly bills will get a reduction of three paise per unit and those receiving bimonthly bills will get a reduction of one paise per unit in electricity surcharge. The electricity surcharge is currently charged at the rate of eight paise per unit in monthly and bimonthly bills. This has been reduced to five paise and seven paise respectively. KSEB has issued an order regarding the same.
The electricity surcharge on bi-monthly bills was reduced in April this year also. Domestic consumers with a connected load of 1,000 watts and a monthly consumption of up to 40 units, as well as those on green tariffs, have been completely exempted from the electricity surcharge.
