MALAPPURAM: Senior leader Ramesh Chennithala said the Congress is confident that the people of Nilambur will make UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukath win with a huge majority. He said that all Congress leaders will campaign for the by-polls. While talking to the media, Chennithala also clarified that the issues with Trinamool Congress leader P V Anvar will be resolved.

'We are confident that the people of Nilambur will make UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukath win with a huge majority. We will be active in Nilambur from today. All leaders will come to Nilambur to campaign. The UDF wants to unite with P V Anvar and work and that is the wish of opposition leader V D Satheesan and others. The UDF's approach is to unite with all forces working against the LDF,' said Chennithala.


Meantime, it is heard that AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal will intervene to resolve the dispute with Anvar. There will be a move to resolve the issue. Anvar will be declared an associate member. The discussion on Anvar's issue will be initiated by senior leader P K Kunhalikutty and Ramesh Chennithala. A situation arose where talks between Anvar and Venugopal could not take place yesterday.


K C Venugopal had responded that the meeting with Anvar was a media creation and that there was a good leadership in the state. He had clarified yesterday that the Congress leadership in the state would handle the issues related to Nilambur by-election. With this, Kunhalikutty intervened and spoke to K C Venugopal.
