KOZHIKODE: There was a bid to kidnap a seven-year-old boy from near the Puthiyakkadavu Beach. The migrants tried to abduct the boy, son of Shajir of Beypore and Anusha. The locals caught the two, informed the police and took the two into custody.

The two taken into custody are Lakshmi and Sreenivasan of Mangalore. The two tried to abduct the child playing near his house and then made an attempt to put him inside a sack. Seeing this, the other children who were playing with him, created an uproar. The locals then rushed to the spot and caught hold of the accused who ran to the beach. The locals demanded strict action against them for trying to kidnap children from a crowded residential area. The police have registered a case and a detailed investigation has started into the incident.
