MANNARKKAD: In a tragic incident, P.K. Prasannakumari (56), Employment Officer at the Mannarkkad Taluk Employment Exchange, lost her life after being run over by a private bus at the municipal bus stand on Thursday morning. A native of Mannur, Prasannakumari was the daughter of the late Keshavan.

The accident took place around 11 a.m. when the private bus, which had arrived from the Kundurkkunnu area, dropped off passengers and was heading towards the hospital side of the stand. As Prasannakumari was walking to her office after disembarking, she attempted to cross the road and was struck by the bus. Eyewitnesses said she fell under the vehicle, and the rear wheels reportedly ran over her head. Bystanders and police rushed her to the Mannarkkad Taluk Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.

Prasannakumari was just days away from retirement, scheduled for this Saturday. The police have taken the bus into custody and initiated an investigation. She is survived by her mother, Ambujakshi.
