BENGALURU: Accidents and troubles during heavy rain are common in the country. But a dispute over splashed rainwater leading to surgery? That’s exactly what happened in Bengaluru on Sunday.
A young man named Jayant Shankar was travelling in a car with his wife Parvathi and mother-in-law after dinner. On Magadi Road, an i20 car came in front of Jayant’s vehicle. The passengers in the i20 — a husband and wife — accused Jayant of splashing muddy water onto their car.
The incident took place on the underpass near Lulu Mall in Bengaluru. The couple blocked Jayant’s car and a direct argument broke out between Jayant and the occupants of the second vehicle. During the altercation, the i20 car owner allegedly bit Jayant’s ring finger, causing a deep injury.
Due to the severity of the injury, Jayant had to undergo surgery on his finger. The incident resulted in expenses of around Rs 2 lakh for Jayant.
In a complaint filed by Jayant’s wife, she alleged that the i20 driver also issued death threats to Jayant during the argument. The police have launched an investigation. They suspect both parties may have confronted each other. However, no counter-complaint has been filed against Jayant so far, according to sources.
