MALAPPURAM: After his diatribe against the UDF on Saturday, P V Anvar revealed the demands he had put forward for joining the UDF. Anvar demanded a UDF sitting seat to contest but was offered Beypore instead.

P V ANVAR:

“We held a lot of discussions. TMC even agreed to support Shoukath’s candidature from Nilambur but only wanted immediate inclusion into the UDF alliance. I gave up a seat which I won for two consecutive terms. So I demanded a favor from UDF. I put forward the demand or else they will change their mind after the by-polls.

Congress is contesting in 99 seats. In many of those seats, they will end up in defeat. I can prove to be the difference and help the alliance get back on winning ways. I have those candidates who can make an impact on people in any constituency.

To know more about UDF's intentions, I made them believe that I accepted their terms to be an associate at UDF. However, they jumped ship yet again and said kept no surety about giving me a sitting seat. So the intentions were clear.

The Muslim league is not accountable for offering me any seat. It was for UDF that I gave up my seat and the onus is for them to offer me back another seat. Few leaders within UDF offered me Beypore seat. It turned to Malampuzha later. However, all hopes were dashed because of the arrogance of one leader.”
