THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains will continue in Kerala. An orange alert has been issued in four districts today. Orange alert is in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The possibility of heavy rain is predicted in isolated places. IMD defines 'very heavy rain' as a situation where 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain is received in 24 hours.

A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts today. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. The Central Meteorological Department defines heavy rain as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours. Thunderstorms are expected.

A yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fishermen cautioned

IMD has announced that fishing should not be done along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts today and tomorrow.
