THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A yellow alert has been issued in various districts of Kerala for four days from today in view of the possibility of heavy rain. The yellow alert will be issued for four districts tomorrow.

A yellow alert has been issued in the mentioned districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.
IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours.
The Meteorological Department has also informed that fishing should not be done on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshdweep coasts today. Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph and bad weather are possible on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshdweep coasts today.
Following the dangerous rise in water level, orange and yellow alerts issued by the Kerala State Irrigation Department are in force on the following rivers. The authorities have advised people on the banks of these rivers to be cautious. They should not enter or cross the rivers. They have also been advised to stay away from flood-prone areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
