BENGALURU: Cricketer Virat Kohli’s One 8 Commune Pub and restaurant in Bengaluru is in trouble once again. A FIR was registered against the pub at the Cubbon Park police station.

A complaint was obtained for not having a designated area for using tobacco products, including cigarettes. The pub has been booked under Sections 4 and 21 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act COTPA for not having a designated zone within the restaurant for smoking.

A police team led by sub-inspector Aswini conducted a lightning inspection. The inspection was to ensure whether safety rules were followed. The pub has to have a designated area for the sale and use of tobacco products. An awareness campaign has also been launched to obtain licenses related to this. The Bengaluru Police has warned that legal action will be taken against owners who do not comply.

This is not the first time that controversies have arisen around Kohli's pub. In July 2024, the police had registered an FIR against the establishment for operating beyond the permitted hours. It has also led to complaints from nearby residents for playing loud music at 1 am. In December, the establishment had also failed to obtain a no objection certificate from the fire department. Following this, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had issued a notice to One 8 Commune. The pub, located on the sixth floor of Ratnam's Complex, reportedly lacked adequate fire safety measures. The problem came to light following a complaint from a social worker. Although a notice was issued in this regard earlier, there has been no response from the restaurant.
