KANNUR: From kindergartener to a class 12 student, this house in Thalakani Kannur has it all. Every morning, all students will step out from the house together for their respective schools. By evening, with their return, the 'Kairos house' will get back to life with raucous shrieks and laughs all over.
Santhosh (44) and Ramya (37) of Podoor Kannur have eight girls and two boys. The youngest is only three months old. Santhosh is the owner of Kairos Roofing and Ceramics Distributors, a leading company in Kannur.
The eldest child, Alfia Lisbeth Kottiyoor, is in class 12 at IJM school. Their second daughter, Agnes Maria, and the third, Anne Claire, are in 10th and 8th grade in the same school respectively.
The fourth child, Asin Therese, is in 6th grade. The fifth, Leo Tom, is in 4th grade and Levins Anthony is in 2nd grade. The seventh, Catherine Jokima Talakani, is a UKG student at Govt. UP School. The eighth and ninth children are twins. Giovanna Maria and Gianna Josephina, are now attending a play school near their house.
During June, the kitchen in this house slowly comes to life at 5 in the morning. Ramya and the children's grandmother Elikutty will start cooking at dawn. Anjita, a Chhattisgarh native, is there to help. Anjita is also the children's nanny. Breakfast is ready by 7 am and lunch will be deftly packed in nine separate lunch boxes. The elder children will help the younger ones pack bags and ensure they don't miss any books. At 8:30 am, the school bus will reach in front of their house.
The first three deliveries were normal. Then a cesarean section was needed. To those who frown at having so many children, the couple will sport a smile and say, "It is a sin to reject God's gifts. As our children grew, our business also prospered.” Says Ramya.
