THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Schools and colleges in two taluks will remain closed tomorrow due to the waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall. All educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk will remain closed tomorrow due to persistent waterlogging in various parts of the taluk. Additionally, the District Collector has declared a holiday for Thekkekkara Government L.P. School in Pallippad village under Karthikappally taluk. Moreover, 16 schools in Pathanamthitta district, which are currently functioning as relief camps, will also remain closed tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for seven districts in the coming hours. In the next three hours, isolated light rain accompanied by lightning and thunder, along with winds reaching speeds up to 40 km/h, is likely in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts. Light rain is also likely in isolated places across all other districts.

As per the IMD's five-day rainfall forecast, a yellow alert has been issued for various districts. Today, a yellow alert is in place for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod. Tomorrow, a yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The alert indicates the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall.
