KOZHIKODE: Despite being a route with many passengers, passengers are stranded for hours due to the lack of sufficient train services. Passengers wait for hours to get a train on the Palakkad-Kozhikode route even during the day. Passengers are demanding more trains to connect these two cities, where many people travel daily.

Palakkad - Kozhikode is one of the routes being considered when starting the Vande Bharat Metro service in Kerala. Since it will take some time, passengers are demanding that at least one train be allowed immediately. Another thing is that passengers have been raising this issue for ages. Public representatives have also raised this issue before the Railway Board many times.

The first train from Palakkad Junction (Olavakkode) railway station to Kozhikode during the day is at 7 am. It will reach Kozhikode at 9.10 am. This train is the Coimbatore - Mangalore Intercity. The second train is the Yeshwanthpur - Kannur Express, which will reach Palakkad at 11.15 am and reach Kozhikode at 2.10 pm. The next train from Palakkad to Kozhikode is at 4.10 pm.

The situation from Kozhikode to Palakkad is the same. The first train on the Kozhikode-Palakkad route is the Kannur-Coimbatore train, which arrives in Palakkad at 10.40 am. Other daytime trains are the Mangalore-Chennai Express, which arrives in Palakkad at 1.55 pm, the Mangalore-Coimbatore Intercity, which arrives at 5 pm, and the Mangalore-Coimbatore Express, which arrives at 5.30 pm. Later, the Chennai Mail, which leaves Kozhikode at 5.30 pm, reaches Palakkad at 8.30 pm.
