KASARGOD: In a tragic incident, a one-and-a half-year-old baby died after accidentally knocked down by her father’s car. The victim is Hridya Nanda, daughter of M Haridas of Mulleria Belliga, and Srividya. The accident happened Thursday evening at 6 pm. The baby came under the car when Haridas was pushing the vehicle which was not starting. Srividya escaped without any injuries. The family reached home after attending a relative’s house warming function.

Haridas' house is 200 meters below Belliga on the Mulleria-Kumbala KSTP road. While he was driving his car home, the tyre got stuck in the ditch made to drain rainwater and the engine stopped. Since the house was nearby, Srividya took her younger daughter and walked to his side. Their elder daughter Deva Nanda was inside the car.

Haridas got out of the car and when was pushing the car out of the ditch, it hit the side of the wall, falling on top of the baby. The elder child escaped with minor injuries. Hridya Nanda was immediately taken to Mulleria Cooperative Hospital, but could not be saved. Her body has been shifted to the mortuary of Kasaragod General Hospital.
